Parent Meeting Regarding Lion King Jr.

Does your child want to sing, dance, and perform on stage? This new after school musical theater program is for you! Partnering with TOAD (Theater of Arts Discipline) theater company, our new program provides musical theater education and a performance opportunity for 45 energetic, hardworking young actors in grades 1st-6th in any ORLA program. Artistic staff from TOAD will audition, teach, and lead rehearsals for four weeks, culminating in two performances of 'Lion King, Jr.', a fabulous 60-minute musical.

Please join us for the last of three *mandatory* parent meetings on THURSDAY, OCT. 12 at 6:30pm in the Commons to review the program guidelines and expectations for parents and students and to ask questions.

Registration forms will be available at the meeting, with an enrollment cost of $75 per student. Your PTA is subsidizing the cost of the full production company fee. If you need financial assistance, please contact Administrator Celeste Waltermeyer.

Auditions for role assignments will take place on Monday, Oct. 23 from 3:30-5:30pm. All students are given a role if they are registered. The 2-hour rehearsal schedule must work around half days during conference week and the Wednesday early release schedule for Montessori. The dates of the program:

Oct. 23 Monday at 3:30-5:30pm
Oct. 24-26 Tuesday-Thursday at 12:20-2:20 pm
Oct. 30-31 Monday-Tuesday at 3:30-5:30pm
Nov. 1 Wednesday at 2:45-4:45pm
Nov. 2 Thursday at 3:30-5:30pm
Nov. 3 Friday at 3:30-5:30pm
Nov. 6-7 Monday-Tuesday at 3:30-5:30pm
Nov. 8 Wednesday at 2:45-4:45pm
Nov. 13-14 Monday-Tuesday at 3:30-5:30pm
Nov. 15 Wednesday 2:45-4:45pm
Nov. 16 Thursday 3:30-5:30pm

Your child must be able to attend every rehearsal and stay the entire rehearsal. Performances are Friday, Nov. 17 at 6:30pm and Saturday, Nov. 25 at 12:30pm. Your child must be able to attend both performances.

While your PTA is paying TOAD to produce our musical, the PTA side of the program is run completely by volunteers who will spend many hours working to ensure a great experience for our students. As we establish this new program, we are actively looking for interested parents to learn the program this year in hopes that we can continue the program for the next generation of ORLA student actors. Too big of a commitment? We will have plenty of other volunteer opportunities! Come assist at a rehearsal, assemble our lollipop flowers, or sell tickets and concessions at the performances.
