Senior Drama Club

We are so excited to be putting on an original production, Death by Chocolate, written by ORLA Drama Club Student Leader, Ian McClatchey. Ian has worked tirelessly over the past 6 months, collaborating with students and mentors to write this play and bring it to completion! It is now ready for all of those who join ORLA Drama Club this year to jump into and start working on right away. We are looking forward to welcoming back returning drama club students and inviting new members to join!

It is a big undertaking to put together a full-length production in a little over half a semester, as those of you who have already been involved in previous years have experienced! Learning from past years, we are more aware of what kind of commitment is needed and want to clearly communicate that ahead of time, so all those who want to be a part of this production realize what is required. Parent/Student agreement to the following commitments is a requirement to join Drama Club and be given a role in the play.

Please Note: There is an additional rehearsal day added this year for students with Main/Lead roles. Monday rehearsals for leads only will start October 5th

Drama Club Commitments:

● Dress rehearsals in March, all Wednesdays 2-6pm, leading up to Performance

● Performances in March/April (dates coming soon) — students need to be at ORLA 4:30-9pm.

● Provide costume pieces for your student. (We will supply what we have available in our costume closet.)

● Parent/Student involvement in fundraising for other Drama Club expenses (sets, costumes, food for rehearsals)

● Agreement to photo/video recordings of students for the purpose of giving additional practice resources, and recording of the production, to share with Drama Club families.

If any of the above requirements is a hardship for your family/student, please reach out to ORLA Drama Club Parent Leader, Cheree McClatchey, at (360) 459-7513. If possible, exceptions will be made on an individual basis, but we need to know in advance, as it may affect how we cast the roles. We want all students who have an interest to be able to join, but we need to make sure we have sufficient time to practice and rehearse with all the cast members.

We can't wait to see this production come to life — thank you for being part of it!
